Valkyria Chronicles 2 - Aliasse of the Azure

Recently finished reading the Valkyria Chronicles 2 manga, "Aliasse of the Azure Light", and really wanted to draw a pic of Aliasse in her Valkyria form.

And so, here's my take on Valkyria Chronicles 2' adorably petite Valkyria, Aliasse.





Out of all the pics that I have done, this one is easily the most difficult and time consuming that I have ever done, with her hair and Lance taking up most of the time spent on the picture. Out of all the Valkyria in the series, Aliasse has the most complex outfit, and so I had one helluva time trying to figure out how to draw her.

Didn't draw her shield. I originally had a shield in the first sketch, but decided to remove it because it covered her up too much...which is pretty much what a shield is supposed to do...

Her design was originally inspired by that of a bunny girl look, but because the things on her head are pointed, she actually reminded me of a bat.

When her Lance turned into a Whip, it was kinda like a Darth-Maul's-dual-lightsaber moment: If there's Lances that turn into Whips, then what other weapons did the Valkyria have?

Through a surprisingly easy usage of Photoshop, I stuck a blue flame effect on her whip.





The manga, surprisingly, stars Aliasse with Magari as the main characters, which was a rather interesting angle for the story: A Valkyria and a Darcsen.

All of Class G get a little cameo, Aliasse and Magari's personalities get fleshed out a bit more, and even Juliana gets portrayed in a more postive light.

In VC2, even though she eventually becomes a playable character, it was a little disappointing that you were unable to use her Valkyria abilities. In VC3 however, if you enter a password, not only does she become a usable character, but she also wears her Valkyria clothes, AND can use her Valkyria powers.

And Aliasse is 13!
